Whitehouse Common winners!

Congratulations to Dylan D and Joel from 4HB who have won the Birmingham Primary Languages Summer competition. The competition asked for pupils to create a healthy living poster in a language other than English. Members of 4HB and 5CD entered the competition with work that they completed as part of Healthy Heroes week. 5CD imagined what Planeta Salud (Planet Health) might be like, and 4HB created healthy superheroes using Purple Mash.

Dylan and Joel created a hero called Aqua Ola (Waterwave) who has a friend called Sano Sangre (Healthyblood) and fights against Tarta Temor (Fear-cake), and have won a prize for themselves as well as for the school.

You can see all the winners on the BPL website.

1960's Party Day!

1960sWe were transported back to the 1960's as the children and staff dressed in some fantastic costumes to remember our school being opened in 1961. Everyone had a great day taking part in a variety of exciting activities and received a commemorative pen and pencil to remember the occasion by. Thank you to all the parents for providing the children with such great outfits!

Sports Day

Sports_day_KS1_27Today we had our annual WHCP sports day! KS1/Reception completed six activities with their classes; the water race, the obstacle course, the relay race, the over and under race, the balance race and the egg and spoon race. The children competed in their houses and showed fantastic team spirit. After the KS1/Reception sports day, Nursery began their events. This included a relay, sack race and many more enjoyable activities. The children then had a lovely picnic lunch on the field with their families. The afternoon was time for KS2 to compete in a traditional sports day of track events, including the sack race, egg and spoon race, obstacle course, sprints and relays.

The children then patiently awaited the results of the day, totalled from nursery, KS1/reception and KS2 sports day as well as the interhouse phase competitions from Healthy Heroes Week. The house captains proudly collected the trophies for their houses. Elder came in fourth place, Hawthorn came in third place, Rowan in second place and Acer won! The totals for the house points for the year were also shared, 1st Hawthorn, 2nd Rowan, 3rd Acer, 4th Elder. Thank you to all of the parents/grandparents for supporting the children in their events today!
