We are happy the unveil our brand new school football kit sponsored by Colbecks Music.
After being successful in bidding for a full Nike kit courtesy of the Players Football Association, the team elected to have a green, white and yellow strip reflecting our school colours.
Here is our school football captain Harry sporting our smart new kit! Team photos to follow after the season concludes next week.
For Easter we had a competition to see what children could come up with when painting their eggs - look at the pictures below to see some of the fantastic ideas that the children thought up!

The Whitehouse Common Talent Show will take place tomorrow afternoon at School. The event will be split into A and B teams. After auditions and voting last month, each class has come up with an artist or act to represent them at the talent show this year. A range of 'talents' will be showcased by the children tomorrow including singing, dancing and playing a variety of musical instruments. All the children in the school are really looking forward to the event. Good luck to everyone taking part I'm sure it will be a wonderful event!
We have worked closely with Queen Mary's with regards to the current entrance exam date on 12 September 2012.
They are now aware that this falls within the Howtown Residential Course.
In response to this, Queen Mary's have arranged a second opportunity to take the exam on Monday 17 September 2102, times are yet to be confirmed.
We are grateful to Queen Mary's for their consideration.
Thank you to all those of you who attended the meeting about the Y1 phonics check that has been introduced by the government this year. This will take place in the week beginning 18th June. For those who were unable to attend, a pack of information has been sent home with your child. If you have any questions please speak to your child’s class teacher, Miss Breeze (Phase Leader) or Miss Maugham (Assistant head teacher and literacy leader.)
This meeting was an update on the way that phonics is now to be assessed in schools. The success of our phonics teaching in school and the use of the RML resources will ensure pupils will succeed in this test. If children who require extra support, parents will be informed by their child’s class teacher. In your packs there are resources for you to use at home which will benefit all Year 1 children.
An RML workshop was held at the beginning of this academic year to demonstrate how to use the RML resources and to show parents how phonics is taught and how to help at home. For those who were unable to attend, your child was sent home with a pack of information shared at the meeting. For more information and to see a selection of videos on how this program works, please visit www.ruthmiskinliteracy.com/video.aspx
Thanks for your ongoing support.
As part of Healthy Heroes Week, 4AG had the exciting opportunity to visit the science laboratories at Bishop Vesey Grammar School. The children experienced a science session about nutrition taught by the Head of Biology, Dr S. Sangster and some year seven children, including children who went to WCPS last year! 4AG enjoyed working alongside the year seven pupils to find out more about the importance of our diet through fun and engaging activities.
Three of our Year 6 girls are proving to be valuable assets to the Girls District Football Team. Jasmine, Rebecca and Abbie contributed to a brilliant League victory in a thrilling display of skill.
Well done girls, we are very proud of you!
You may have noticed that our website hasn't been updated in a few days, and that a few recent posts had gone missing. Due to technicial difficulties, our webhost has been forced to restore the website from a back-up.
The website is now fully operational again (phew!), but the restoring process means that the website has reverted back to how it was part-way through last week. Unfortunately, this means we will have lost anything added to the website since then, including any comments on our class blogs. If you have submitted a comment to any blog post in the last week and it hasn't appeared (or did and is now no longer there) please resubmit it so we can put it back up. We aren't ignoring your posts; in fact we love to see your comments on our blogs!
If you've never seen our blogs, why not [click here] to take a look and see what each class has been up to - simply scroll down to 'Yeargroup blogs' and pick one. Don't forget to leave a comment!
