Congratulations to Ethan and William, we hope you like your wind up torches.
WCPS enjoyed Science Day yesterday. Children across the school took part in fun and practical experiments to help to develop their investigation skills. Some of the experiments included bread making, tie-dye work, making music and observing what happens when a 'Mentos' sweet is put in a bottle of coke!
As well as conducting investigations with their teachers, the children also had the opportunity to work with the company 'Sustrans'. They learnt what renewable energy is and various ways that this can be generated, including cycling on a bike. Some of the children had a try at lighting up to 4 light bulbs by riding a bike linked up to a generator, some teachers even had a go too! We found out that it took much less power to light up an energy saving light bulb than an original one.
Today's scheduled football match away at Little Sutton has been cancelled until further notice due to the condition of the pitch.
We have had a fantastic day today at Whitehouse Common Primary School learning our times tables by singing and rapping! We had 'Tunes Times Tables' and Mr NK spend the day with us to teach us our tables. We rapped and used actions to learn them in a fun way - even the teachers loved it!
Some of our comments are:
We really hope to teach our parents and friends the raps and continue to sing them so that we learn our timestables by heart.

The Eco Team are holding a new competition. They are asking children to use their imagination and come up with a slogan or catch phrase that will encourage everyone to put their litter in the bin. The Eco Team will then choose one slogan from KS1 one from KS2. The slogan will then be put on all the bins around the school. The two winners will receive an eco-friendly wind up torch. So please get your thinking caps on! [Click here] to download the entry form.
A big thank you to Mrs Horne who has put up a fantastic new display for the Eco Team. Make sure you have a look at it if you visit the Acorns Office! The Eco Team have had a busy term, you can read all about their work in the latest 'Eco Buzz'.
After weeks of dedicated rehearsals, 15 Year 5 children were able to showcase their hardwork by taking part in the Christmas concert at Lichfield Cathedral on Wednesday evening. Our students were part of the Four Oaks Cluster Choir and their performance, which included Star Carol, The Gift and An African Crib Carol, was enjoyed thoroughly by parents, grandparents and members of the local community. The Whitehouse Common staff who attended the performance, were extremely proud of the smart and enthusiastic students who clearly sang their heart out. We endeavoured to match their performance when we had the opportunity to sing along with everyone to some traditional Christmas hymns. A special mention must be stated for Joseph Bardsley who demonstrated a calm and confident manner whilst reading a passage alone in front of the whole congregation. Well done to all the children who took part, it was an enjoyable evening for everyone.
