Whitehouse Common Primary School Ball

ptaThank you to all those that attended the PTA Ball on Saturday 1st October. It was a great success and over £3800 was raised for the school. We were very blessed with the weather and everyone enjoyed their drinks on the terrace! Aston Wood certainly lived up to their reputation and provided a great service. We hope to have another PTA ball in October 2012 so watch this space!

Howtown 2011 Day Two

Heavy rain overnight gave way to sunshine for breakfast and the morning presentation. The day's activities include gorge walking and climbing up waterfalls, tunneling through a series of tunnels, building a raft and orienteering around Howtown village.   Although the winds limited time on the lake, there were smiles all round. Packed lunches consisting of a packet of crisps, a choice of sandwiches, flapjacks or brownies and fruit refreshed us at lunchtime and even more enthusiasm was generated in the by now wet afternoon. One very popular choice tonight at tea was Pizza!

Today's Howtown Trivia Question: Our favourite band.........Wet Wet Wet !!!

Howtown 2011 Day One

We managed to leave school on time, sped up the motorway and soon made our stop at Charnock Richard. We then went through lots more torrential rain showers before ending up at sunny Howtown. Everybody was soon settled and after lunch the now traditional 'Jog & Dips' took place. A very welcome tea of either chicken curry, cottage pie, macaroni cheese or vegetarian rolls was soon consumed, followed by a mixture of indoor and outdoor evening activities. A final cup of cocoa and we were glad to get to bed.

WCPS awarded Full International School Award

isa_logo_2011_2014We have just received some wonderful news to start the new academic year - Whitehouse Common Primary has been awarded the Full International School Award.

The British Council website says that "the Full International School Award accreditation is for schools that have successfully embedded internationalism into parts of the curriculum and whole school ethos." We are very proud that all the exciting things we do at WCPS to look beyond our immediate surroundings and appreciate the lives, culture and beliefs of others has been recognised in this way, and we will proudly display the logo - and certificate when it arrives!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to achieving the award - our partner schools in Barcelona, India and Birmingham, all the visitors who have shared their experiences with us, the parents and families who share in our international work by showing an interest (and especially those who kindly sent letters in support of our application) and of course, most of all the staff and pupils of Whitehouse Common who participate in all the activities which such enthusiasm, interest and joy.
