We have all settled quickly back into school this term and are working really hard in Year 1. As well as being busy consolidating our basic skills in maths and english, we have begun to enjoy Big Reading sessions to develop our understanding of texts and have embarked on a round the world journey for a new topic - Around the World with Barnaby Bear. We are having great fun!

As part of our science work on seasons, we have been lucky to have the opportunity to work alongside the park ranger from Sutton Park and a representative from Eco Sutton and to join an exciting new project to grow more Oak trees in the park!

They brought us some acorns which we planted and which we will nurture until they are big enough to be replanted in the park in the future.

We learnt about the importance of trees in our environment and how the work we will do will our local environment and our local community for many years to come. It has been a lot of fun getting involved and we know that we are helping the future of the planet through the work we do!
