The Fire Brigade visits Nursery

This week we were lucky enough to get a visit from the Fire Brigade to wind up our topic - 'People who help us'. The children were so excited!..............

The Firemen then came into Nursery to show us the protective clothing they wear when tackling a blaze.

As Christmas fast approaches, and winter is drawing in, we have been busy making and baking! The children loved making these little snowmen and they were very tasty also!

Building towers!

We have been very busy rehearsing our Christmas show this week, but inbetween we have had lots of fun activities to do. Here are our afternoon children working together to make a really tall tower!!

Keeping our teeth healthy!

This week we have continued our theme of 'People who help us' and were lucky enough to have one of our Mums (Mrs Dixon) to come in and tell us all about her job as a Dentist!

The children really enjoyed the session and a big 'thank you' for all our goodies!

We talked about healthy and unhealthy food and matched healthy food pictures on the Interactive Whiteboard.

PC Wheeler visits Nursery

Our theme this week was 'People who help in the community. We were really lucky to have P.C Wheeler come to visit us..........

He let us try on his Police hat and high visibility jacket........

......and he told us all about his job and how he helps to keep us safe before taking us out to his Police car, where everyone got press the button that makes the 'blues and two's' flash and the button that made the siren go off. It was really loud and we had to cover our ears!!!!

Thanks to PC wheeler, the children had a fantastic time and really enjoyed your visit!

We also had our yearly sponsored Bikeathon to help boost the Nursery funds - well done to all our children who pedalled and scooted three laps around the playground. Thank you to parents for cheering your children on! Keep the donations coming in!bikeathon_sml

 

People who help us around school

Today we have helped Mr Horne to keep our school clean and tidy. First we washed the tables in the art room.

Celebrating Diwali in Nursery

Last week we celebrated Diwali by making traditional sweets........

Nursery finishes its visit to Ten Town

We have now finished our journey through Ten Town and have had lots of fun meeting all the Characters along the way. Fiona Five helped us today with our exercices in PE!

We have really enjoyed using our outdoor area in nursery and were very lucky to have Councillor Margaret Waddington to open it officially and our picture even appearred in the local paper!!

Spanish Day in Nursery!

Nursery enjoyed tasting Spanish tapas on Monday as part of their celebrations for the European Day of Languages. The children also took part in lots of activities that involved rojo and amarillo (red and yellow!) including colour sorting and painting Spanish flags.

Elmer Week

Our new outdoor play area!

We have returned after the holiday to find the men hard at work building our new outdoor play area.

It came together very quickly and was completed on Friday afternoon ready for the new week ahead. How exciting, and the children have now got a fabulous outdoor play area that they can enjoy all year round. We'll post more pictures next week of them exploring their new surroundings both indoor and out!!

What have we been up to in Nursery?

At the end of last term, Mrs Allen paid us a visit to present these two little girls with their 100% attendance award certificates.

Since our return after the Christmas break, we have been singing lots of Nursery Rhymes. The Role Play has become Nursery Rhyme land..

.........and this little girl is coin rubbing with the money to buy '5 currant buns'!!

These children are making the currant buns for the Baker's shop!

In the midst of all the singing, this little girl sits quietly looking through her Learning Journey and reminding herself of all the things she has done in Nursery since September!!
