Welcome to the Nursery blog. Find out what we have been up to lately!

Sunflowers

User Rating:  / 0

This week in Nursery we have been learning all about plants and what they need to grow. We have planted our own sunflower seeds and amazingly, with our care and attention, they have started to grow already!

We have also made some tasty sunflowers...marshmallows small

On Thursday we looked at a very famous painting by Vincent Van Gogh called Sunflowers. We then printed our own sunflower pictures.

These are on display in Nursery and we think they look great. What do you think?

This week in Nursery we have been learning all about how to stay healthy and why this is so important. The children have all met a new friend called Harold the giraffe in the Life Caravan. We had a look through Harold's wash bag and thought about how to stay clean.

We also had a visit from Sainsbury's who came to see our Nursery fruit and vegetable shop. They brought us a lot of real fruit - some of it we had never seen before! We all did our best to taste new things including: melon, kiwi, papaya, mango and pineapple.

With the exception of Wednesday the weather has been good and so we have been able to get outside to practice for Sport's Day and have been thinking about how exercise affects our bodies.

Helping Mr Horne

This week in Nursery we have continued to think about all of the people who help us at school.

We have taken a walk around our school grounds and all agree that they look lovely. We are very grateful to Mr Horne for all his hard work keeping our school looking so smart.

This week we decided to give him a hand with some jobs...

Our nursery garden has never looked so tidy and smart but where did all that litter come from?

Mr Horne even took us to see the School swimming pool and we thought that it looked very exciting. Mr Horne explained how he keeps it looking so good and showed us how he puts a special cover over the water.

Thank you Mr Horne!

Our School Community

We have had a super first week back to Nursery thinking about all the people who help us in school.

We visited Mrs Kingston in the school kitchen and she made us some toast!toast 1 smalltoast 2 small

We ate our toast in the Oaks hall, sitting on the proper lunch tables.

We have also been visiting other people in school who help us. We went to the school library and saw Mrs Juniper sorting some books. We also went to the school office where Mrs Miller was very busy at her computer.

One of our favourite activities this week has been our role play area in Nursery which is currently a school! It has been exciting to pretend to be teachers and to play "schools".

Each group of children experienced a Tots Tennis session similar to the ones that the coaches deliver on Sunday mornings at the Tennis Club. The children responded really well and everyone had a great time. ..

Today your child has come home with a certificate from the coaches, as well as a letter that outlines costs/timings etc should anyone be interested in any further sessions.

Next week we will be focussing on our Easter activities and looking forward to the holiday!

We have been working with our puppets to improve our Learning Power. I wonder which friend will help us next week?charlie chimp smallcurious kitty smallomni owl small

Yo ho ho, Pirates!

User Rating:  / 1

This week saw the start of a new and exciting topic in Nursery - Pirates!

On Monday we held a Dressing up day and the children (and staff) were allowed to come to nursery dressed as pirates. We had some fabulous costumes and, more importantly, fun! We started off by answering the register in "pirate speak" which, for those who do not know, is "Aye, aye Captain!"

It looks like these brave pirates are walking the plank!

We have also started receiving some new resources that we ordered using the money raised from our sponsored event, which is fabulous because it means that your children will benefit straight away!

Please refer to Nursery Notices to see the pictures of our new resources.

On World Book Day some of us dressed up as characters from our favourite books and we were able to take part in the "Book Swap Shop" which meant that we all chose a book to take home.

We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all our parents and grandparents who have been so generous today in supporting our sponsored event. Not only did everyone turn up to share the fun with their children or grandchildren, we were overwhelmed with the donations of cakes that we later sold. We have even had some sponsorship money already!

As you can see the children really did enjoy themselves!Jamie small
