Golf Sessions with The Belfry

KS2 were very lucky this year to have some Golf sessions delivered by a professional Golf Player from The Belfry. We had a great day where children took part in House Team competitions on a range of golf-related activities. Children who showed exceptional talent were also invited to some free sessions at The Belfry Golf Club!

It was a fantastic opoprtunity for us to try something different, as we don't normally do Golf in school, and we saw some budding talent coming through!

Autumn Term Sporting Superstars

We had a very busy Autumn Term at Whitehouse Common, taking part in lots of compeitions with other schools in the area. All of the children who have taken part in training and representing our school have done us proud and impressed us with their dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship.

We were lucky enough to have some expert coaching for the Tag Rugby and Hockey competitions from Bishop Vesey, and are going to be working with Aston Villa Footall Club School Sports Coaches to help with our football team training!

The competitions and Tournaments we have participated in are:

October – Y5/6 Football Team (against Coppice)

October – Y5/6 Tag Rugby

November – Y5/6 Hockey - achieved 2nd place

November – KS2 Cross Country – Girls' team achieved 5th out of 17 teams

November - Y5/6 Indoor Athletics

We are looking forward to many more sports opportunities and competitions after the New Year!

Free Basketball tickets!

We have been lucky enough to receive some vouchers for free tickets to the British Basketball League (BBL) Cup Finals on Sunday 15th January 2017, 3.30pm Tip Off at the Barclaycard Arena, Birmingham.

On arrival to the arena, the vouchers are swapped for tickets and give entry on the basis of if you arrive together then you sit together.

We have been assured that:

*             there are plenty of seats available for the voucher holders (they have operated this system for numerous years and never had to turn people away)

*             entry for voucher holders is completely free of charge (there is no catch).

Ticket vouhcers are available from the Acorns and Oaks offices.

WSAS Year 5 and 6 Hockey

A huge well done to all the participants in last week's hockey tournament. You all played brilliantly and represented our school fantastically well.

After some tough games, Whitehouse Common finished second after reaching the final and losing out to Boldmere. We are very proud of you children, well done!

Hockey

Year Five Football

Well done to the Year Five boys for their efforts in the WSAS football festival yesterday. After just missing the worst of the rain, the matches kicked off against over 20 schools from the Sutton Coldfield/Erdington leagues. In highly competitive  games and on a fast playing pitch, the boys performed very well and were unlucky not to proceed through to the next round of the competition.

Things are looking promising for the Year Six team next year.
